We set out to change that by creating something functional, fun, and inviting. Less like a planter, more like a must-have gadget. That’s how Pico was born.
Altifarm Enverde was known for its larger indoor vertical farms, Altifarm and Herbstation, tailored to dedicated plant enthusiasts. With our next product, we aimed to create something for everyone—even those new to plant care. Our goal: to make growing plants effortless and accessible.
While Herbstation was in tooling, PICO began as a playful side project. From doodles and sketches to clay mockups and CAD models, every step was as fun as it looks.
Development of Pico was a journey of iterations and innovation. From injection molds and electronic circuitry to modular components, every part was meticulously designed for efficiency, durability, and simplicity. The result? A compact system that’s as efficient as it is beautiful.
PICO was a runaway success. Over 21,500 backers made this vision a reality, raising $1.85M in pre-orders across Kickstarter and Indiegogo. It was covered in over 400 international media outlets and a social media sensation, and rewards were shipped to over 130 countries.
In the same year, over 50,000 units were shipped, all engineered and manufactured in-house. Aside from the LED chips, every component was custom-made, including neodymium magnets and cables. An accessory ecosystem- the PICO Timer and Mini Garden Toolset - was also introduced.
PICO’s impact went beyond numbers—it became a meaningful part of people’s lives. From growing herbs and succulents to brightening up spaces, users proudly shared their journeys. PICO wasn’t just a gadget; it fostered a community, enriched with personal touches and heartfelt stories.
Next year, we took everything people loved about the original PICO and made it bigger and better. The new version features smarter LED lights with auto-dimming, a built-in battery for portability, and an integrated timer for effortless plant care. Designed to grow with your plants, it’s the next step in making gardening smarter and easier.
